A few kilometers before reaching the Bourke’s Luck Potholes you will find a right turn off onto a dirt road. The road leads you down to a river with this kitchen located on the banks, with “lekker” Braaivleis and Pap.

It is very funny and oh so true at times. Just watch out for the fine print when booking a cheap flight!

We are in South Africa, a third world, and things don’t always work as easy as one is used to in developed countries.
Telkom promised first for the 28th of April to restore the service, and now for the 8th of May. We hope it will happen.

In the meantime you can get hold of us via or cell phone and our landline as this is diverted to our cell. You wont feel a difference in contacting us.

We purchased additional bandwidth for our cell phones (there are no flat rates in South Africa and internet still is very expensive) and offer our guests to make use of the computer in the reception area.

This all hurts our business, but what hurts us even more is the fact that guests mention this in reviews on booking sites without giving background information and mark us down.

We leave nothing untried to ensure the level of service we promised to deliver, but sometimes the odds are against us despite all efforts.

Breakfast is the start of your day and we believe you should go strong into an exciting adventure.
We are always trying to make your stay at Abangane Guest Lodge a bit of a different experience!

It had to:

• be in one of the 11 official South African languages
• be easy to pronounce, especially for our European visitors
• have a meaning
• be high up where alphabetic listings on search engines are concerned

 So off we went and bought a dictionary.

We paged thru and quickly came to “Abangane”, which is Zulu for “Friends”. Easy to pronounce, high up in the alphabet, a widely spoken language in South Africa and, the best, it has a meaning!

The approach of staff and management of Abangane Guest Lodge is to welcome you and see you leave as “Abangane” which means “Friends.

We all at Abangane hope we meet the goal we have set ourselves.
